Many ’80s children will remember moving and grooving to Never Ending Story; the theme song from the movie of the same name. As a demonstration of their obvious affection for the ’80s, Bastian’s Happy Flight, even dubbed their band after a track from the movie. According to Will Slade, founding member of the group, however, they didn’t specifically set out to have an ’80s sound, but do have a strong admiration for the emotion at the core of a lot of popular songs from that era. Definitely Slade’s vocals coupled with their musical approach, particularly, brings to mind bands like Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran, Simple Minds, etc. Their new album Heart/Works is now available through iTunes. Below a preview of catchy track Hooray. Also check out my podcast interview with Will Slade in the podcast section of this blog.
